Conic Art Project With Equations

These conics projects require the student to graph many equations which, when properly graphed, will form a well-recognized cartoon character. The equations are predominately conics equations (all four conics types), with some graphs of polynomial functions, and linear graphs This project is Pluto. PreCalculus Conics Flower Project You will be creating your own Flowers incorporating one or more of the four conic sections. Your flowers must be of the assigned dimensions. The petals must be equally spaced around a circle with a minimum of five layers. You will create a test flower(s) first for approval and then create a final. The objective of the Conics Sections Art project was to create a poster incorporating the four different conics we have learned about; we also had to include lines with different slopes. The first step to completing this project was to creating a sketch.

Conics Art Project

For conic sections, in particular, I have found that interactive notes have truly helped with explaining the basics for each section. The kids have been enjoying them and it has really helped explain the step by step process to graphing.
For parabolas, I gave a grid to give a visual guide to the new vocab words. For the other ones, I drew visuals on the white board that some kids did include on their notes.
Once again, I am placing the series of these notes on TPT. Stay tuned for a possible collection of these notes to appear this summer.... I like the way that these are turning out ;)
